Production area
In Montiano, precisely at Poggio Maestrino, in the heart of the Morellino di Scansano production area, with breathtaking views of the ‘Parco dell’Uccellina’, the whole of the Maremma cost up to the island of Elba, at the Podere le Spiaggiole entirely planted in 2002.
Blend and Ageing
Carbernet Sauvignon 25%, Syrah 25%, Merlot25%, Petite Verdot15%, Grenache 10%.
The grapes, having undergone the ‘cruel’ green harvest in July reducing the fruits to half of their original quantity, are carefully picked with a maximum yield of 1,5kg per plant.
The harvest begins already at the end of august due to early ripening of the grapes and their vinification at a controlled temperature begins a few hours after the picking. The fermentation on the skins lasts for about 20 days.
After the first racking and the malolactic fermentation the refinement in wood begins: Squared Barrique (225lt) and tonneaux (500lt) made of French and Slovenian oak.
14 months after harvesting the wine is bottled.
Serving with food
Outside the traditional territorial patterns, le Spiaggiole is ideally served with an international menu, rich dishes with sauces and cheeses of strong character, or simply with aromatic or spicy bread.
